MEKRA Lang hosted an event organized by the Bavarian Family Pact. Together with Bavaria’s Minister for Family Affairs, Ulrike Scharf; District Administrator Dr. Christian von Dobschütz; and representatives from the business and public sectors, the event focused on how family-friendly working conditions strengthen the long-term viability of companies and regions.
As a founding member, MEKRA Lang has supported the Bavarian Family Pact since its inception. For Managing Partner Susanne Lang, family-friendliness is far more than just a human resources tool.
“The Bavarian Family Pact is an important platform for networking and sharing experiences. Above all, however, it puts families at the center. MEKRA Lang stands for the values of the Bavarian Family Pact. For us, family-friendliness means thinking long-term and acting responsibly. That is why I am particularly pleased that more and more companies are joining this network. It is important that we take a stand - for families and for our society.”
During the event, 16 companies from the Neustadt a.d.Aisch-Bad Windsheim district were welcomed as new members of the Bavarian Family Pact. District Administrator Dr. Christian von Dobschütz hailed this as a strong sign for the region and emphasized the importance of family-friendly employers for the district’s economic development.
Sebastian Klein from the Bavarian Family Pact’s service office presented current developments and the annual theme, “Securing the Future - A Family-Friendly Work Environment for Every Stage of Life.” The discussion revealed that flexible solutions for different life situations are increasingly becoming a key competitive factor.
Susanne Lang explained how this can look in practice, using the corporate culture at MEKRA Lang as an example. The company focuses on individual solutions rather than standardized guidelines.
“At MEKRA Lang, people and their families are at the center of everything we do. Whether it’s childcare, parental leave, or caring for relatives - every life situation is different. That’s why we work together to find pragmatic solutions that work for everyone involved.”
She also shared her own experiences as a mother and a caregiver for family members in need of care. This perspective has had a lasting impact on her view of employees’ needs.
A visible example of the company’s commitment to family-friendliness is the Frieda Lang House for Children. The daycare center is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and the full-day elementary school is marking its 15th anniversary. Both facilities have always been an important part of MEKRA Lang’s family-oriented corporate culture.
Bavaria’s Minister for Family Affairs, Ulrike Scharf, also emphasized the importance of family-friendly working conditions. She noted that family-friendliness is now a decisive factor in attracting talent and maintaining a competitive edge. Companies that support employees at different stages of life have an advantage in recruiting and retaining qualified professionals.
The minister paid special tribute to MEKRA Lang’s long-standing commitment: “At MEKRA Lang, work and family go hand in hand - you could say: work and family ‘made in 1932.’”
The event made it clear that family-friendliness is far more than just a social responsibility. It strengthens companies, employees, and the entire region alike - and remains a key building block for the future viability of Bavaria as a business location.
